Amending Patent’s particulars

Change of owner details

Following the filing of an application for granting a patent or the grant of a patent, the beneficiary may proceed to changes in the applicant’s or owner’s details respectively, such as, for example:

  • The name;
  • The address;
  • The service address;
  • The nationality.

Filing an amendment

You may submit an application for changing the name, nationality, address or service address of the patent owner or of the applicant for granting a patent (form Π.2) by hand/post, accompanied by:

  • original or true copy of documentary evidence for the change of name/address (such as, e.g. EPO Form 2544, excerpt from the company register, certificate of change of owner’s name/address, etc.)
  • form for authorising an agent (form Π.8) in case where a power of attorney covering the said procedure has not already been filed;
  • certified translation in the Greek language in case where the relevant documents are not in Greek, either by an affidavit or by sworn translator of the Republic of Cyprus; and
  • the fee of one hundred euros (€100) payable in cash, by cheque, via an account maintained with the Department of the Registrar of Companies and Intellectual Property or via bank transfer).

You are advised to refer to the main criteria of review so as to acquire a better understanding what is required and to facilitate the process further.

Provided that the Intellectual Property Section is satisfied that all, relevant to the circumstances, legal requirements have been met,he will proceed with filing of the changes, updating of patents register and, in case where the amendment concerns a granted patent, the publication of such changes.

In case you wish to secure the issue of certified copies, you can submit a request for obtaining certified copies of a patent.
