Abandoning a Patent right

A patentee may submit a letter by hand/post to the Intellectual Property Section, waive his patent right or withdraw an application for granting a patent.

The abandonment can be limited to one or more patent claims. The letter is accompanied by the form for authorising an agent (form Π.8) in case where a power of attorney covering the said procedure has not yet been filed.

The Intellectual Property Section registers the letter and publishes a relevant notification in the Official Gazette. The termination of right protection applies from the receipt date of the said letter.
