Expiry of protection period due to non-renewal

An industrial design or model is protected up to a maximum time period of twenty five (25) years from the application filing date, provided that the beneficiary proceeds to its renewal.

The beneficiary must file to the Intellectual Property section within three (3) months before and six (6) months after the expiry of the previous protection period the application for renewal of an industrial design or model.

Otherwise, the Intellectual Property Section proceeds to its termination and publishes the striking off of the design or model in the government’s gazette.
