What is Neighbouring Right?

Neighbouring right, contrary to copyright which protects the creator, provides protection to:

  • performers or executors, such as:
    • actors;
    • musicians;
    • singers;
    • choirs;
    • dancers;
    • theatrical puppeteers;
    • shadow theatre artists;
    • variety show artists; or
    • circus artists;
  • phonogram producers;
  • producers of audio-visual works;
  • television and radio broadcasting organisations; and
  • publishers.
